The Next Gen Apple AirTag

Apple AirTag 2

Apple AirTag New Generation (2026).

This week, Apple unveiled the new generation AirTag, an update we hadn’t seen since the release of the first version back in 2021. This is, in fact, the only tracking product currently made by Apple.

The new model brings improved Precision Finding (up to 1.5x better than the first version, according to Apple), an enhanced Bluetooth range, and louder speakers (up to 50% louder). Apple also decided to keep the original form factor from the previous model, which means that if you decide to upgrade, your existing accessories will still fit this new version of AirTag.

The emphasis with this new AirTag is definitely on Precision Finding and the louder speaker. Whether this is worth upgrading from the first generation is debatable, but there’s no doubt this new version feels more capable and modern.

Among its features, you can share your AirTag with up to five people, making it easier to track items that are usually shared with friends or family.

At this point, I think we’re still yet to see a proper redesign of this product. On the other hand, an Apple Wallet with MagSafe and an AirTag built into it is something I’d personally love to see - honestly, I’ve misplaced my wallet more times than I’d like to admit.
