Over the years, Apple users and non-users have often hoped to see a cheaper MacBook, something ordinary people could actually afford without breaking the bank. Well, it looks like that wait is finally over with the new MacBook Neo — yay!!!

In March 2026, Apple introduced its first budget-friendly MacBook, the Neo. This model is a great option for users who don’t need a high-spec MacBook, but still want a reliable laptop for everyday tasks such as writing, managing information, using social media, and other basic work.

Because of its compact size, the MacBook Neo is easy to carry around, especially for those who travel often or like having a lightweight laptop with them. Even though it’s the cheaper model, it still comes with some solid features that could make many users happy, including a Liquid Retina display with 2048 x 1506 resolution and 500 nits of brightness, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a headphone jack, two USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 6E, and a claimed battery life of up to 16 hours.

Unlike Apple’s higher-end models that now use the latest M5 chip, the Neo comes with the A18 Pro chip, the same one used in the iPhone 16 Pro. This is likely one of the main reasons Apple was able to offer it at a lower price. Of course, this MacBook is not designed for heavy video editing or demanding CPU tasks, but the A18 Pro still performs well. For anyone looking to handle the basics smoothly, the Neo makes a lot of sense.

The MacBook Neo comes in Blush, Indigo, Silver, and Citrus, with storage options of 256GB or 512GB. It also includes Touch ID.

Overall, I think the MacBook Neo is a smart move by Apple. Not everyone needs a powerful Pro machine, and many people simply want a good, reliable laptop that works well for daily life. If the price is right, I can easily see this becoming one of Apple’s most popular Macs.
