Apple iPhone Air

iPhone Air in all colours: sky blue, light gold, cloud white, and space black.

Apple has finally unveiled the iPhone many were expecting: the iPhone Air. I remember reading rumours on blogs and tech sites about this model back in 2024. There was a lot of speculation about whether Apple would actually release something new or not - and apparently, those rumours were true. They’ve finally done it.

This new iPhone doesn’t just feature an incredibly thin and light design at only 5.6mm, it also packs some interesting components inside. One of them, of course, is the new A19 Pro processor (the same chip used in the Pro versions of the iPhone).

I believe this phone is very much design-focused (and it’s an amazing design), but in practice its usability will really depend on each person’s needs. I’m certain that in 2026 we’ll see an improved version of the iPhone Air, but for now, I think Apple is intentionally releasing something new and unusual to see how it’s perceived, so they know which path to follow next.

Personally, I find this to be one of the most beautiful iPhones Apple has ever released, if not the most. I had the chance to see it in person at the Apple Store, and it’s genuinely gorgeous - and incredibly light. Among the notable features, the iPhone Air includes a 6.5” Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120Hz, the A19 Pro processor, N1 and C1X chipsets, a 48MP Fusion main camera, an 18MP Centre Stage front camera, Ceramic Shield 2, and all-day battery life. The body is made of glass and polished aluminium, available in stunning colours like sky blue, space black, cloud white, and light gold.

At the same time, this is an innovative product with a clear design focus, which means it offers a different set of features. For some users, this approach will be more than enough, while others may still prefer the Pro model for a fuller experience. Each use case is personal, and at the end of the day, you need to choose what works best for how you use your phone. Two considerations that might influence a lot of people are the fact that the iPhone Air only has a single camera, and that its battery is slightly smaller compared to the standard iPhone 17 and 17 Pro models. That said, it really comes down to your day-to-day usage and how much you rely on your phone.

Overall, I really like the idea of Apple introducing something new. It’s interesting to see how users react, and it gives us a glimpse of where Apple might be heading in terms of design and technology. I remember when the iPhone X was released it received a lot of criticism at first, but over time people adapted to the design and features, and the iPhone XS and 11 ended up being very successful.

I see real potential in this new model and I’m hoping to see a refined version in 2026. Personally, I’d love to see a slightly bigger display - maybe 6.7” - and a second camera, especially considering the Pro Max now has a 6.9” screen.

The Accessories for iPhone Air

Apple iPhone Air Accessories

iPhone Air accessories: Body Strap, Bumper Case, MagSafe Battery.

Alongside the new iPhone Air, Apple also released a few new accessories. These include a new MagSafe battery designed exclusively for the iPhone Air, which means that if you try to use it on a different iPhone model, it simply won’t fit. There’s also a new body strap that lets you keep your phone on you and within reach whenever you need it. And my favourite one - yes, I know it’s a bit silly - is the new Bumper Case.

Something about the bumper case instantly gives me iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 vibes. Back then, there were so many bumper options available for those models, and I absolutely loved them. I actually had one on my iPhone 5s, and I might even still have it somewhere to this day.
