The New iPhones Are Almost Here
Rumoured iPhone Fold Ultra
It’s that time of the year again. Apple’s September event is happening on 9 September, and we’re only days away from finding out what the company has been working on for its next generation of iPhones.
This year could be a particularly interesting one. Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but the biggest surprise could be its first-ever foldable iPhone, which is currently being referred to as the iPhone Ultra. Apple has not confirmed any of these products yet, but the latest reports are pointing strongly in this direction.
For the iPhone 18 Pro models, one of the changes I’m most curious about is the camera. Reports suggest Apple could introduce a variable aperture to the main camera, giving users more control over how much light enters the sensor and potentially allowing more control over depth of field. This could be one of those changes that sounds small but actually makes a noticeable difference when taking photos.
The Dynamic Island could also be getting smaller. After staying relatively unchanged since its introduction with the iPhone 14 Pro, reports suggest the cutout could be around 35% smaller this year, giving us a little more usable screen space.
There are also reports of the new A20 Pro chip, improved battery life, a new Apple-designed C2 modem, and new colour options including darker red and light blue. Again, these are still reports until Apple officially shows us the devices.
But honestly, the foldable iPhone is the one I’m most interested in. Apple has watched Samsung and other manufacturers build foldable phones for years, and now it looks like Apple could finally be ready to enter the market. Reports suggest a large internal display, a smaller external display and a design that folds down to roughly the size of a passport.
As someone who has always been interested in how Apple evolves its products, I’m particularly curious to see how the company approaches something completely different from the iPhone we know today.
The event is called “Surprise and Shine”, so I’m hoping Apple has at least one surprise waiting for us. We’re almost there now. 🌈 ✨

More clues about the foldable iPhone?
Adding to the rumours, some interesting case images have also surfaced for Apple’s rumoured foldable iPhone. The cases give us a little more of an idea of what the design could look like, especially around the overall shape and camera layout. Of course, these are still rumours and I’d take the images with a grain of salt, but with the event only a few days away, they definitely make things a little more interesting.
