Google Pixel 11: Gemini Is Now at the Centre
The New Google Pixel 11 Lineup and Accessories
Google has officially introduced the new Pixel 11 lineup, and this year it feels like Google is making one thing very clear: Gemini is the heart of the Pixel experience.
The Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold are all designed around what Google calls Gemini Intelligence, with the new Tensor G6 chip helping the phones handle more AI tasks directly on the device. Gemini can now be more proactive, help with multi-step tasks across apps, and understand what you are trying to do rather than simply answering a question.
There are also some interesting new features around the camera, including Magic Capture, which can analyse hundreds of frames to help capture those moments that happen way too quickly. Google is also adding new AI tools for editing, voice input, translation and creating content.
One feature I’m a little less convinced about is HiLight. Available on the Pro models, it uses small coloured LEDs around the camera to show notifications and different Gemini states. You can also assign colours to contacts. It looks cool, and I can see the idea behind it, but right now it feels more like a nice little extra than something that will change how we use the phone. Google says more features will come to HiLight over time, so perhaps this is just the beginning.
Overall, the Pixel 11 feels less about simply having a new phone and more about Google trying to make the phone itself smarter and more helpful. Gemini is clearly the big story here, and I’m curious to see how useful all of this actually feels in everyday use.
The Pixel 11 lineup
Pixel 11
The standard Pixel 11 comes with a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, the new Tensor G6 chip, 12GB of RAM and a dual-camera system. It also brings a 4,700mAh battery and starts with 256GB of storage.
Pixel 11 Pro
The Pixel 11 Pro steps things up with a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate, 16GB of RAM and the Tensor G6 chip. It features a triple-camera system with a 50MP main camera, 48MP ultrawide and 48MP telephoto, alongside a 5,200mAh battery.
Pixel 11 Pro XL
The Pro XL is the largest model, featuring a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display, 16GB of RAM, Tensor G6 and the same triple-camera setup as the Pro. It also brings a larger 5,500mAh battery and up to 1TB of storage.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold
The foldable Pixel 11 Pro Fold comes with a 6.4-inch external display and an 8-inch internal folding display. It is powered by Tensor G6 with 16GB of RAM and features a triple-camera system, a 5,000mAh battery and up to 1TB of storage.
Across the lineup, Google is clearly trying to make the hardware work around Gemini rather than simply adding AI features on top of an existing phone. And honestly, I think that’s what makes the Pixel 11 lineup particularly interesting this year.
